Our Training Philosophy

Training walks focus on helping dogs develop calmer responses to environmental triggers.

These sessions may include:

  • Distance management from triggers
    • Confidence building exercises
    • Reinforcement of calm behaviour
    • Structured exposure to real-world environments
    • Stress reduction and emotional regulation

The goal is to help dogs feel safer and more comfortable during walks.

Safety Commitment

Working with reactive dogs requires careful risk management.

Our approach prioritises:

  • Safety of the dog
    • Safety of the trainer
    • Safety of the public and other animals
    • Ethical and humane training methods

Management strategies may include:

  • Quiet walking routes
    • Distance from triggers
    • Secure walking equipment
    • Avoidance of high-risk environments

If safety risks increase, walks may be modified, paused, or stopped.

Owner Responsibilities

Owners agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about their dog’s behaviour
    • Inform the trainer of any behaviour changes
    • Provide secure and appropriate equipment
    • Follow recommended management strategies

Clear communication helps ensure the safest possible training environment.

Trainer Responsibilities

The trainer will:

  • Conduct risk assessments before starting services
    • Use appropriate safety equipment
    • Manage environmental risks during walks
    • Document incidents or behavioural changes
    • Prioritise the welfare and safety of all involved

Training walks are structured to support behavioural improvement while maintaining safety.

Working Together

Successful behaviour change requires teamwork between the trainer and owner.

By working together and following the safety procedures outlined in this pack, we can help your dog develop greater confidence and calmer behaviour during walks.
